JUST TO BE CLEAR

Just to be clear

I need to say something, because I don’t feel good if I don’t. This blog is based on the tv show Hannibal and even if it's full of s...

Some summary required - Season 3 - 06 Dolce

Hannibal goes home to wash off blood and to check if he still has all his bones. Bedelia helps.

Will and Jack rejoin in front of Pazzi’s body. If there’s not a corpse they don’t feel like home. Then Jack has to ask an important question.

Hannibal has no future in Italy, so Bedelia organizes her way to survive incrimination. She takes drugs and fakes unawareness.

Mason finds out that Pazzi is dead, so he needs another accomplice to take Hannibal. He doesn’t have to wait, Margot and Alana buy Italian cops to get the job done.

Will and Jack go visit drugged Bedelia, who pretends to be confused about who Hannibal is.

The unending battle between the two brides begins.

Will knows perfectly where to find Hannibal.

And when they’re finally together again, love is in the air.

Will wants to ask Hannibal to marry him in their language, so he takes out a knife. Chiyoh doesn’t know their way to communicate and shoots Will for precaution.

And NOW Hannibal is really happy. The scenes that follow make this the best day in Hannibal’s life.

All is nice and fun, until Jack arrives and makes Hannibal mad.

Hannibal tries to open Will’s head with an circular saw, but since he wouldn’t find anything inside he stops.

No, that was mean. I’m already mad at Will for the next episode.

The end of this scene in the next episode. Feelings are coming.

Some summary required - Season 3 - 05 Contorno

Chiyoh and Will talk about Hannibal -well, they don’t have anything else in common- while on a train to Italy.
Will probably wanted to use a boat, but Chiyoh explained to him why that was a bad idea.
Chiyoh is pissed-off for the mess Will made at her home, but she doesn’t show it to make Will feel safe.
For now.
Hannibal walks naked around the house.

In Italy, Jack does what he does best.

At Verger’s, Alana has to endure Mason’s jokes about blow jobs, sperm, cocks and so on. The guy has a strange obsession for Hannibal’s genitals and he will keep showing it proudly.
Thanks to Alana they find out where Hannibal is.

Will and Chiyoh spend the night on the train.
Since Will and Hannibal are conjoined Will too feels the strong need to undress.
Like… Really? Do you really need to be naked to spend a few hours in a fucking train’s bunk? And you won’t even sleep because you haven’t slept in your own bed in two years, so why the fuck should you do it now?
Anyway, that’s not the problem.
Chiyoh is.

And then she starts talking like there’s no tomorrow!
And she shouldn’t do that, because Will learnt to not shut the fuck up from the best teacher ever!
Obviously, at the end of this shit, she throws him off the train.

Finally she gets revenge for everything. It’s perfectly understandable.

Pazzi, taking proud of his name’s meaning, goes to Hannibal to tease him.
Good job. You don’t even have the excuse that you are in love with him.
The Italian then gets in touch with Alana and Mason, making arrangements to give Hannibal to them. Yes, just like that. He thought that a serial killer not caught in twenty years would be an easy way to make some money.
But when Hannibal looks at you smiling cutely, while he talks about murder, bowels and death, if you’re not Will it’s not for flirting.

And you shouldn’t turn your back to him.
Pazzi was not the smartest guy in… Well, in Italy.
He is killed and hanged. But Hannibal is not very cautious anymore about anything and this last murder is the one that starts his end.
Jack finds him.

This time Jack beats the shit out of Hannibal.

But it’s already been established that around Hannibal they all get stupid.
Jack doesn’t tie Hannibal up, doesn’t restrain him or kill him, or hit him unconscious, no. He just defenestrates him -do you like the word, Alana?- and Hannibal limps away.

Some summary required - Season 3 - 04 Aperitivo

We’re taken back in time.

Dr. Chilton is alive!

If you still had doubts about it…

He is the character who loves life the most in this tv show.

He put his pieces together for a second time and he goes from door to door disturbing people who just got mutilated, stabbed and defenestrated.

Nobody listens to him. Even if he brought them flowers.

Will is fixing his boat -mark my words for later- while he daydreams about killing Jack with Hannibal.

Jack visits him just then.

Then we can see what Will did after his wound had healed. He went to Hannibal’s house.

No shit!

Unlike Will, Alana wants Hannibal to be tortured and killed, so she joins forces with Mason to start Hannibal’s hunt.

Jack loses his wife Bella and Hannibal takes the opportunity to get in touch.

Will was waiting just for a good excuse.

He takes his boat…

Yes, his boat. To Italy. He probably never left the States before, so he never bothered to ask if  existed other means of tranport than that.

He takes his boat, his daughter’s hallucination, his pretty face and leaves.

MIZUMONO feelings

Because I rewatched Mizumono and rewatching Mizumono when I’m awake is never a good idea. This phrase makes sense, believe me.
I’m going to focalize on the last scene, because even if it’s not enough, it’s already too much.
But I want to tell you how deeply convinced I am that if Hannibal had burst out in rage when he smelled Freddie Lounds on Will things would have gone very differently.
Hannibal kept inside the rage, the disappointment, the desperation...

And that’s practically the first thing that you shouldn’t do when you love somebody. You ask, you explain, you let out your doubts.

I understand, because I’m like him. With the exception that I don’t kill everyone at the end, I just run away and let things go.

If you think about it, it’s what Hannibal does. He tries briefly at the beginning asking Will to run away without a sacrifice; but he is subtle, he doesn’t explain, he doesn’t allow Will to make his decision with all the information required.

When Hannibal decides that Will is on Jack’s side, his decision is unquestionable because he doesn’t allow Will to partecipate in his inside debate.

Leave out the killer part, he is acting like a person in love who is afraid to ask, so he prefers to just stick to what he believes. I’m like that, I understand.

It’s very stupid and I know that, but you can’t help it if you’re like this.

Last scene and what Hannibal does.

He lets Will know that Abigail is alive.

That’s the most important part of his punishment. Imagine what Will is thinking right now, imagine the rapid way in which the first important thing comes to his mind.
This was the main reason why I hated him, her death. Instead she is alive. What do I do now? Do I want to go with them? Maybe.
So he says:

Like, why are you still here? For me?

Yes, then, you're still here for me.
For a moment he looks at Hannibal searching for that feeling.
Is he in love with me?
And maybe for just a moment, when Hannibal touches him, he is ok with his own feelings too and wants to go with him.
At least he wants to go.
Then he could have had all the doubts he wanted, but he would have gone.

Then Hannibal cuts him.
I think in his contorted mind (because in my mind Will is like Hannibal, so he is not better than him and he is not a righteous person, his mind is contorted) he is thinking that he deserves this. Considering the person he decided to have a relationship with, considering he has befriended Hannibal Lecter and played with him, he couldn’t expect much more. That’s why you can see his acceptance.
He doesn’t beg, he doesn’t ask for mercy. He suffers and listens to what Hannibal says.
I mean… His guts are almost out and he is answering to Hannibal’s questions like he knows it’s the last time he can listen to him. How can you describe such passion?
Hannibal is a serial killer, he won, he is going away… Why does Will feel the need to keep the conversation going?
Because the reason they’re in this situation is the lack of things said and now Will knows it.
Hannibal makes a list of all the things Will dared to let go for reasons he (and I) doesn’t understand.
You’re not a man of the law, you’re not righteous, you make that clear so many times with your actions. Why are you so mad at me? For what I did to you? I can do worse. For what I did to Abigail? Well, the time can reverse, see? I told you that the teacup could come together.

He says THE place, not A place, the place like it’s the only one that can exist.
And he is right. A
bigail and Will need a world apart where to live, because Hannibal sees them as his family, his equals, and he knows very well that there’s not a place for people like them in this world. Hannibal doesn’t even want a place in it now that he has them, but Will ruined everything.

Yes, I wanted to surprise you and you wanted to suprise me, Will, but we have very different ideas about surprises. I wanted to give you the place in this world, you wanted to take away mine.

Will: Didn’t I?
Are you sure I didn’t want it? Are you sure I don’t want it now?
He is bleeding to death and still he is tring to explain. He knows that there’s nothing left to fix now, and still he talks.

Will: No… No… Not your life no.

I don’t want you dead.

I sense an attempt to give as much explanations as possible about the situation, like Hannibal too is trying to explain to Will that he had no choice but what he just did.

The tone he is using it’s like he is saying “Ok, then my freedom, it’s the same. Your fault anyway, I didn’t do all of this for nothing, did I? Don’t try to distract me.”

He is annoyed by his own lack of reasons.
He really has overreacted and it’s not something he ever does.

Look at what happened, Hannibal. You don’t seem to be able to kill and trasform me like you do with your works of art. I’m not your design, I’m something else. You’re acting like you don’t give a fuck about anything else but this and this is a big change.

I know I made a mess. I know.

But it’s your fault.

Hannibal: Will you forgive me?

And he does the only thing he knows it’s worst than anything else for Will.
There was nothing else he could do to express his pain rather than kill the only person who connected them. The one Hannibal and Will both cared about.
I’m going to do this horrible thing so you know that I’m myself, you didn’t change anything in me, I’m still what I was and you better know what I’m capable of.
Again. It’s the person in love who shows to the other he can go on without them.
I’m like this.
You disappoint me, you leave me… I start living my life to the fullest, doing more things than I did when I was with you, showing you that with you I was weak, without you I’m stronger and you didn’t do anything to make me better, I’m better if I’m without you.
Again, I’m not saying it’s a good way to react, but...
That’s also the only way Hannibal had to make Will beg. And Will begs.
When Hannibal goes away, when he is at Bedelia’s, when he is on the plane, he has this expression that seems to say “I’m still not very aware of what I did”
The expression that goes perfectly with the one in Primavera, after Will’s alleged forgiveness.
Did it really happen?

Thoughts about Clarice

I’m glad I never listen to people and always do and think what the hell I want.

Especially with readings.

I often heard things like Hannibal is shit because he rapes Clarice while she is unconscious!

No, Hannibal is shit for many reasons but not for that. I don’t know why you have to find one more, he is already shit as he is, don’t twist the book to make a point.

I mean, if you are on a mission from God to convince people not to read Harris’ books, at least don’t use something that it’s not there.

Anyway…

Some summary required - Season 3 - 03 Secondo

Bedelia is already done with Hannibal’s shit.

So, in Italy the two of them talk about important stuff like what Will is having for breakfast. In the meantime, Will is in Lithuania visiting his in-laws house.

And he has long conversations with Hannibal in his mind.

In Italy, the obnoxious Professor Sogliato runs out of time.

The funny thing is that Sogliato doesn’t shut up, not even with an ice pick in his brain.

If you think Hannibal is starting to be restless, well… Yes, Will does that to him.

Will meets Chiyoh, Hannibal’s very loyal friend. She is the guardian of the man who killed and ate Mischa, Hannibal’s sister.

Chiyoh has been his guardian for a very long time.

Hannibal left her saying Goodbye Chiyoh, I’m going to live abroad, doing stuff, being important and killing people, you stay here for as long as it takes, ok?

Chiyoh Well, yeah. I didn’t have anything to do anyway…

Will is surprised by her loyalty for no good reason, he should know pretty well how Hannibal works.

He and Chiyoh exchange pleasantries, then Will frees the man under Chiyoh’s care so she’s forced to kill him.

Will goes away with Chiyoh, since she has nothing more to do there, but before that he arranges the killed man like this

Will has his problems too, you should know that by now.

One final conversation between Bedelia and Hannibal lets us know what’s the most recent of Hannibal’s decisions.

ALCIBIADE's attempts.

This is translated from something I wrote months ago. I don’t know if it makes sense, but I wanted to share my passion for the Simposio and I hope that someone who hasn’t still read it, will do it.

I added some things since I now have Hannibal’s references to use.
