Puoi Uscire A Giocare?

Puoi Uscire a Giocare?

Grazie.

Thoughts about Clarice

I’m glad I never listen to people and always do and think what the hell I want.

Especially with readings.

I often heard things like Hannibal is shit because he rapes Clarice while she is unconscious!

No, Hannibal is shit for many reasons but not for that. I don’t know why you have to find one more, he is already shit as he is, don’t twist the book to make a point.

I mean, if you are on a mission from God to convince people not to read Harris’ books, at least don’t use something that it’s not there.

Anyway…

Reading Harris’ books

When I started joining fandoms I did it for the obvious reasons, ship a pairing, but also for something else.

I understood that with Wei Kreuz.

If you don’t know it, it’s an anime about two groups of killers. Eight guys, four “good” and four “bad”. Very poorly summarized.

Anyway, in my opinion this anime sucks. The plot is hilarious (and it doesn’t mean to be) and the graphic is not very good.

I used to make fun of this as I do with Hannibal, writing about the weird things that happened in the episodes; but the difference was that back then I was serious, in a way, because the problems were real, now my humor is just out of love and I make fun of the show inventing things, not because they are really there.

Well, all that changes if you start reading fanfictions about Wei Kreuz.

The characters are amazing. There are so many possibilities because fans brought to light all those tiny things that in the anime were just hints. The characters’ psychology has been delineated by fan writers. If you don’t know what it is I suggest you to check it out. Even if the anime makes you laugh, you will not be disappointed by the characters, they are great.

And here comes my idea about Hannibal.

Hannibal in the books is not a great character. Not at all.

It’s still better than the others around him, I’m experiencing difficulties to find someone I really like among all of them, but Hannibal is really not that charming.

So, it came Hopkins and gave him life. That was when Hannibal Lecter really started to live.

And that wasn’t enough.

Bryan loves Fannibals because he understands perfectly what fandoms does.

The same thing he did.

He took characters that had great potential but were underestimated and gave them their life.

There’s nothing wrong about it.

I don’t think Harris fans should be offended.

It happens sometimes, it happens often, that you have great ideas about plot and situations, but don’t take good care of your characters.

At least that’s my opinion; Harris set up a great world of “good and evil” but he lost many opportunities to explore their minds in all their interesting sides.

Will Graham is so overlooked in Red Dragon and Hannibal is repulsive and squalid as serial killers are in real life. And that would be fair if it wasn’t for that spark he has that can elevate him to something more interesting and Harris didn’t quite explore that. Not as much.

Bryan did.

Reading the books is a fantastic experience for obvious reasons -I mean, Harris invented those characters, all the praise to him for that- but at the same time I turn every page and ask myself

How the fuck Bryan and the other writers did that? How? Just from a line in the book, sometimes just from hints. How?

Just to be clear

I need to say something, because I don’t feel ok if I don’t.
This blog is partially based on the tv show Hannibal and even if it's full of stupidity, sooner or later I'll be serious and something needs to be clear.

I love the Hannibal fandom, because is full of people who know perfectly well that they are in love with a tv show about a serial killer and, at the same time, they also know that’s not exactly what we’re talking about.

I can’t hear things like I understand Hannibal, he is a sociopath and does what a sociopath does.

NO!

You understand Hannibal because he is a character in a fucking awesome tv show that made clear with all its surreality and metaphors and philosophy that we’re talking about concepts, abstract ideas.

Nowadays, what you hear in every fucking tv news is that at least a woman a day has been killed by boyfriends and husbands who said they love them too much. Who said they chose to kill them, because they couldn’t bear to be without them.

That’s not fucking love.

So, please, if you think Hannibal is a love story about a man who is so in love that he has to show it using the only language he knows, violence, you and I are not watching the same tv show.

I can’t hear those things, because they’re scary. Especially coming from women.

If a man says he loves me brandishing a knife, the one thing I want is just seeing the house collapse on him and then me running the fuck away.

Hannibal is great because Will and Hannibal can do whatever they want. They don’t die, they are characters, they don't live in the real world and their way of expressing feelings can be whichever they prefer.
Once we agree on that and we know we are talking about a world apart, only then I love to be serious and let you know all the reasons why, in my opinion, this show is gold.
